When you have a passion you have a real drive for life. You want to achieve nothing but the thing your passionate about.
I was standing in the shower literally 5 minutes ago when I got inspired to write about this topic on my blog. When I look around or find myself in a conversation with someone lately I feel in this day and age there is such a high expectation for us 20 year olds and younger to have our lives sorted out. It actually infuriates me to my core when I hear of this kind of pressure being placed on people at such a young age.
This is my 3rd year out of school, I graduated in 2013 and had absolutely no clue what I wanted to do. I went to a private school and For some reason year 12 was made out to be everything.. The teachers put pressure on you acting like it was the be all and end all of your life that if you failed year 12 you wouldn’t get any where.
In life there is book smart and there is life smart, I’m someone who is life smart. I can be book smart in the things I’m aiming to work towards but mainly life smart and because of this I had teachers pretty much tell me I’m not going to get any where. WRONG!!!! 3 years on I can happily say I am a qualified pre-school teacher, working, still studying and aiming to achieve as much in the childcare industry as I can whilst still travelling a little bit in between.
It may take you weeks, months or even years to find what your passionate about, don’t stop searching and don’t settle because someone is pressuring you to do something that’s different from what your heart wants. So often I hear people talk about what they want to do but they end it with ” I cant because my parents don’t want that for me” or “I don’t know what my parents would say about that”. Can I just say Its great to have your parents input on things but at the end of the day your old enough to make your own decisions and you need to do what makes you happy. Even if at the moment you are working a job just to save money to travel!! I think that is one of the greatest goals you can have, you gain life experience, culture, food, language and a different perspective of life all in one. Not everyone is made to go to uni and have a career by the time they are 21, if you do that’s awesome but we have to remember that everyone is on their own journey and their own path and everyone is at different stages.
If your somewhere you hate working, find another job and leave! There’s no point in harbouring bitterness and finding your self in the same place you were 2 years ago, life is about growing and finding your self and creating happiness.
Find joy in the things you love and make something beautiful out of it. Go find your passion!!!
